I am of 1/2 Mexican heritage and remember being so proud of the make-up job I did in this ‘Dia de los Muertos’ picture four years ago. If someone had told me then, that it would have been my last in Mexico, I wouldn’t have believed it. I had been posted in Mexico City as Deputy Ambassador of Belize, loved the job, loved the country and felt like this would last pretty much forever.
Then the unexpected happened. Less than a year later I endured a terrible injury that saw me living in horrific pain. I felt like my life was over. My dreams were dashed. I couldn’t stand, I couldn’t sit, I couldn’t lie down, I simply couldn’t just be. I won’t even mention the mental toll it took on me. I had life and career plans and now they were shattered. I felt confused and lost and had no idea what to do next. It was all too overwhelming and I began to slip into depression.
I had lived in pain and a non-directional existence for almost a year by then and I knew I needed to shift my mindset and direction quickly. I needed a clear vision for ‘the rest of my life’ and a strategy to get there NOW. I literally didn’t have the time luxury of trying to figure it out on my own anymore, so I wrapped myself in the nurturing love and support of my parents, and sought out friends, mentors & experts that could guide and accelerate my journey to clarity, to purpose, to LIVING.
Fast forward to today. I am living in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, surrounded by the dreamy canals I had envisioned and her old cobbled streets. I have embraced my gifts, and purpose, and now help service-oriented entrepreneurs like YOU, accelerate from idea to online business.
